1 Crouch, Edmund A. An Illustrated Introduction to Lamarck's Conchology: Contained in his Histoire Naturelle des Animaux sans Vertebres : Being a Literal Translation of the Descriptions of the Recent and Fossil Genera
London Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, & Green 1827 B000877GGQ Hard Cover
Good+; in library binding, with boards somewhat bowed; foxing on a few pages; stamp of the New York Society Library appears on the title page, the first page of text, and the verso of each of the 22 lithographic plates; "withdrawn" stamp on title page and verso of last plate (no other signs of library ownership are present). Pages are single sheets with oversewn binding; the first and last free endpapers tend to pull the adjacent pages away from the spine, so the last two plates are loose and the title page is partly detached. In new clear plastic dust jacket. Aside from the faults noted, this book is in excellent condition. Errata sheet tipped in. The New York Society Library is a subscription library founded in 1754, making it the oldest library in the city and one of the earliest to appear in Colonial America. 4to; iv+47 pp, 22 plates.
