Very good overall; typical condition of paper wraps that were meant to be temporary: edgewear, creasing, age-toning, light soil, partial separation of backstrip. From the library of Chauncey S. Goodrich, Professor Emeritus of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies at U.C. Santa Barbara; he did not sign it, but on ffep wrote some notes on reviews of this book that appeared in specialist journals, including his own review in JAOS. Underlines and marginal marks and notes appear in his hand on some pages; some are in pencil, and I have let these stand because in most cases they correct or augment the text.
